I initiated IP certification of our MCU with Sprint but their IP connections require endpoint registration with their gatekeeper. As a matter of policy I do not like to unregister (de-register?) the MCU from our gatekeeper. I had just started working with the Sprint tech on neighboring our gatekeeper with theirs when he accidentally disconnected the phone call. As this was for the now non-IP Scientech meeting I did not pursue it further by calling them back. We are still ISDN certified from the MCU.
'Videoconference' is better. By the way, it is one word, like 'videotape'.
Well I guess I'd better post this one since Anita has already replied to it.:-)
I wonder if we could eliminate the phrase 'compressed video' from our vocabulary and replace it with 'videoconference'. Users do not care that the video is compressed, just as they don't care that the video on a DVD is compressed. They just want to meet at a distance. 'Compressed video' is just too clunky and does not further users comprehension or appreciation of the process.

Heads up! ISDN calls into Boise 1 from both JEB codecs are not being routed properly by the model 40 in Boise. I am currently working with the TAC team to solve this problem. Currently unable to access the Boise model 40, Keith #1 is scheduled to reboot the 40 tonight. I plan to continue working with Madge on this first thing tomorrow morning. Once we gain access, we will also continue our work on the ISDN capability in B2.
Just for reference: I was requested to make some cabling changes to the new AGN unit. According the InSors technician, the inputs and outputs (#'s 10 and 12)used for the telephone interface had been incorrectly wired at the factory. All other inputs and outputs were correct. Made the requested changes as needed.
While monitoring the JEB111/IF5 (Battelle) conference I noticed that the connect rate to IF dropped to 192K during the conference. I can only assume that the reason for this was due to limited bandwidth on the IF/Moscow data circuit.
I have installed Novell client on the CNR 14 classroom computer so users can access shared drives.

Received a call from JEB111 regarding the CID meeting. The report was no video from Idaho Falls, video fine at the start of the meeting. Checked via the web interface and found that the codec had been switched to DOC Cam, I switched it back to Main Cam and everything returned to normal. Someone in the room must have accidentally changed inputs.
